NORTHWAVE started life crafting snowboard boots in Italy’s Montebelluna sport shoes district. Founder Gianni Piva has years of R&D experience in the sports world. The brand was a snowboard pioneer in Italy and immediately recognized for its innovative designs and performance. Towards the end of the Eighties NORTHWAVE transferred its experience and know-how of snowboard boots to mountain biking as the two sports have similar philosophies and needs. This marked the start of NORTHWAVE MTB footwear and the first step on a journey that naturally went on to include road cycling footwear in 1993. From 1995 to 2000, NORTHWAVE also extended its range to freeriding and introduced its own accessory lines. With the new millennium came the addition of the Apparel and Eyewear lines. Now NORTHWAVE can honestly say that it dresses cyclists “from head to toe”. All NORTHWAVE products are the result of hard work by its R&D division – a select team of technical experts and craftsmen - and are designed, developed, tested and perfected in Italy. NORTHWAVE has always been recognized as a byword for top quality, offering a complete range that features ongoing improvements thanks to the constant introduction of innovative solutions.

From the very beginning NORTHWAVE has chosen the best athletes as partners and testimonials and became famous for the imaginative way it features them in the company’s advertising.
