Scunthorpe Poly CC
Scunthorpe Poly CC have secured sponsorship from Barnsley Cycle Retailer Racescene UK Ltd to supply track bikes & helmets for use at Quibell Park Track which is due to be resurfaced this year, with a Sport England Grant secured by the club North Lincolnshire Council & British Cycling.
The club as also secured a Sportsmatch award from the Racescene sponsorship which will double up the sponsorship to give the club 20 new track bikes & helmets.

The bikes will be used at the planned track session which will include links with local schools, come & try sessions for the local community & Go Ride sessions (the club is a British Cycling registered Go Ride club)

The bikes will also be available for hire at club training sessions, open events & track leagues.

The club hopes with the renovated track & new bikes to encourage more youngsters into the sport & increase club members to go on to achieve success for the club & town

The local Scunthorpe area as had a strong history of producing track riders. The likes of Lal White Olympic silver medallist at Antwerp in 1920 & outright winner of the Murratti cup. Nev Tong Commonwealth Games 1km champion at the Cardiff games, International riders Pete Brotherton & Jack Tighe. & more recently Elliott Smith double national Schoolboy champion in 1986 & Scunthorpe Poly, s national team pursuit champions in 2000
Jack Tighe is the clubs main sponsor & as been since the inception of sponsored clubs, which we believe makes us one of the longest if not the longest sponsorship agreements in cycling over 30 years

The club are anticipating the track to be completed by September when the rescheduled trophy meeting will take place to reopen the track along with presentation of the Sportsmatch Award by local MP Elliott Morley.
